A popular new addition to my practice is Sausage Tree Cream which is helpful for skin problems including sun spots, psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis.

The Sausage Tree grows in sub-Saharan Africa and is named for its long, ‘sausage’ shaped pods. For centuries it has been used by traditional healers to treat a wide range of skin ailments and now clinical trials confirm the tree’s remarkable medicinal properties.

Biologically the plant is antibacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory. Extract from the Sausage Tree has proven to be highly effective treatment for sun damage, especially in the case of solar keratoses, the dry, flak sores which appear on the face, head, arms and legs after long exposure to the sun. Researchers found that long-standing deep seated moles gradually disappear with the application of the extract and that brown, pigmented sun-spots also fade away. The plant has a firming action on skin, Tongan women of the Zambezi Valley use the fruit as a cosmetic face cream to ensure a blemish free complexion.
